The Commercial International Bank (CIB) – Egypt has entered the Guinness World Records for the world’s highest number of live viewers of a financial inclusion awareness video via YouTube.
CIB has always believed and invested in youth development as a genuine means for social contribution. Given the current situation with the pandemic, the Bank considered virtual internship to be the best channel for reaching out to undergraduates, especially with a topic deemed to be one of the most important topics on the nation’s agenda: financial inclusion.
The summer programme revolved around the aforementioned topic, which included multiple lectures and sessions from different perspectives, aiming to give a comprehensive idea about financial inclusion, the importance of financial literacy, the relationship between financial inclusion and economic development, Bank products and services that aided in financial inclusion, and the relationship between sustainability and financial inclusion. The programme was supported by the Central Bank of Egypt and CIB’s senior management. The program also exhibited real-life implementation of financial inclusion by issuing Meeza cards and Smart Wallets for program graduates.
Over 35,000 undergraduates from different universities applied to the programme. Around 10,000 of these students were admitted into the programme, and CIB is still holding more rounds to accommodate interested undergraduates.
