Egypt Post signs cooperation agreements with its Qatari counterpart in Doha

Within the framework of resuming the various mechanisms of bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Qatar, Sherif Farouk, Chairperson of Egypt Post, and Falih Al-Nuaimi, Chairperson of Qatar Post, signed two cooperation agreements in the field of postal remittances and e-commerce.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Mostafa El Bahabety, Assistant to the Egyptian Minister of Justice and Head of the Legal Committee, on the part of Egypt. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Saud Al Thani, Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and head of the Legal Committee of Qatar, represented the Qatari side as well.

Sherif Farouk said, “The two agreements that were signed today, with Qatar Post are a culmination of the efforts made between the two parties to support aspects of cooperation, after a series of meetings, discussions and exchanged visits between the two sides during the past period. This series was carried out by high-level delegations in order to improve relations and strengthen means of cooperation between the two countries. The discussions resulted in signing two cooperation agreements.”

The first agreement aims to activate the electronic postal money transfer service between Egypt Post and Qatar Post through the global system of the Postal Union to ensure the provision of distinguished financial services for all Egyptians residing in Qatar, estimated at more than 350,000 people.

This new service will enable them to send their remittances to their families in Egypt with ease, by depositing them at the 26 Qatari post offices, across Qatar. Their families in Egypt receive these transfers in a momentary manner through more than 400 post offices across Egypt.

Farouk explained that the second agreement signed today aims to facilitate e-commerce programs and projects between the two countries to develop trade exchange and promote local products via e-commerce means and platforms owned by both sides.

He pointed out that, following the signing of the Al-Ula reconciliation agreement in January, Egypt Post has immediately re-established postal services between Egypt Post and Qatar Post. He stressed the continuation of aspects of cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two countries. He added that the upcoming phase will witness more cooperation between Egypt Post and Qatar Post to serve citizens of the two countries.

For his part, Falih Al Nuaimi welcomed the resumption of relations and the strengthening of means of joint cooperation between Qatar Post and Egypt Post, wishing for continued cooperation and exchange of experiences between both parties in the future.

He also praised Egypt Post’s development of the Infrastructure and technology and the system of services provided to customers.
