Minister of Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry asserted Egypt’s position toward the Palestinian cause, confirming the need to resume negotiation between Palestine and Israel, according to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez.
During a phone call with Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, Shoukry explained the necessity of creating a political horizon in parallel with a stable climate that guarantees resuming negotiations in order to consolidate stability in the region and avoids waves of escalation and tension, confirming that Egypt is continuing its unremitting efforts in this regard.
Both sides also tackled the efforts exerted in the framework of the Gaza reconstruction and the provision of aid to all the occupied Palestinian territories, in coordination with the Palestinian National Authority.
Egypt allocated $500m to fund the rebuilding of devastated areas in Gaza, after the 11-day conflict between Palestine and Israel last May.
Egypt has also sent a convoy of engineers and building equipment to Gaza to begin reconstruction in the Palestinian territories.
