The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) has announced that the Turathna Exhibition for handicrafts and heritage arts will run from 9 to 15 October at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in the Fifth Settlement, Cairo, for the third year in a row.
Nevine Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry and Executive Director of MSMEDA, said that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s sponsorship of the exhibition for the third year in a row sends a direct message that the state supports the SMEs sector, especially those working in the field of handicrafts and heritage arts. She added that the government is keen to funnel all efforts of the concerned authorities in the state to provide all aspects of support for these projects that provide job opportunities, especially for youth and women nationwide, and also reflect the cultural diversity of the Egyptian civilization.
Gamea added that the MSMEDA is keen to hold the exhibition annually to encourage all Egyptians working in this sector to continue and expand their projects, develop their products and offer them at competitive prices to meet the needs and tastes of citizens and use their expertise to teach these crafts to a new generation of young men and girls, which preserves these crafts.
This year the exhibition includes more than a thousand exhibitors from all governorates of the Republic, who will display their outstanding production of carpets, handmade kilims, textiles, furnishings, accessories, copper and glass products, embroidery on cloth, tableaux, tents, seashells, lighting units, ceramics, furnishings, leather, wooden antiques, Sinai products and wicker products.
