The Permanent Higher Committee for Human Rights (PHCHR) held a meeting, on Monday, in the presence of representatives of ministries and member bodies of the committee. The importance of this meeting lies in the fact that it is the first meeting of the committee after the launch of the national strategy for human rights, under the auspices of President Al-Sisi on 11 September.
The representatives of the ministries and bodies, members of the Supreme Committee, expressed their deep appreciation for the President’s keenness on attending the ceremonial launch of the strategy, which was prepared in accordance with a scientific approach, following an extensive consultative process. This process comes within the framework of the President’s constant keenness to push national efforts forward to enhance human rights, alongside his directives to safeguard human rights and the dignity of Egyptians by respecting and protecting their basic rights and freedoms.
The meeting aims to discuss the best ways to follow up on the implementation of the mandates of the President, which were included in his speech during the ceremonial launch of the strategy. This reflects a firm political will to promote human rights for all citizens, as well as determine the methodology the Supreme Committee will follow to ensure progress is made in the strategy. This is deemed a new step taken by the Egyptian state towards the new republic, by consolidating citizenship rights and achieving equality, which serves the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030.
Representatives of ministries and bodies stressed that, within the framework of following up on the implementation of the strategy, more effort will be made to enhance communication and coordination, as well as create national partnerships between all components of the institutional structure for human rights, including civil society, which represents a fundamental pillar for the successful implementation of the strategy. Consequently, this would lead to developing an integrated framework for coordinated, collective, participatory and continuous institutional work that would achieve the desired coherence and synergy for advancing human rights.
