Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed arrived, on Tuesday, in Germany to discuss ways of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the health field.
The minister was accompanied by Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, Egypt President Advisor for health and preventive affairs; Hani Dahi, Chairperson of Wadi El-Nile Company; and Hossam El-Masry, Medical Adviser to Prime Minister.
Zayed is scheduled to begin her visit to Germany by inspecting the Mercedes-Benz Car Museum in Stuttgart, then holding a meeting with the Mercedes board of directors, to complete the contract for the supply of 1,000 ambulances and 1,000 medical mobile clinics.
The visit comes within the framework of the strategy of the Ministry of Health and Population to implement the national project to develop the villages of the Egyptian countryside within the initiative of the President of the Republic “Decent Life”.
According to a statement from the Health Ministry, Zayed is scheduled to visit the factory of the German “WAS” company for cars, to find out the equipment and modifications made by the company in mobile medical clinics, as well as ambulances contracted with Mercedes.
Moreover, the technical committee accompanying the minister during the visit matches the standards and specifications for cars and proposes amendments regarding mechanics, emergency and electrical transformation, as well as medical and non-medical equipment.
The technical committee accompanying the minister is headed by Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Control and Follow-up Affairs and Head of the General Authority for Health Care, Dr. Mohsen Taha, Head of the Therapeutic Medicine Sector, and Atef Issa, Head of Health Projects Sector at Wadi El-Nile Company.
It also includes Ahmed Salama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Mohamed Abdel Maqsoud, Assistant Minister for General Secretariat Affairs, and Najwa Salem, Director General of the Office of the Minister of Health and Population.
Moreover, Zayed will meet with officials of the German company “Siemens” at the company’s factory in the city of Erlangen, within the framework of continuous cooperation with the company to support the health sector in Egypt in various fields.
With regard to the coronavirus pandemic, the Health Minister is scheduled to meet with officials of the Robert Koch Institute for Disease Control and Prevention, to exchange experiences between the two countries in the field of public health and confronting the Coronavirus pandemic.
