Head of the Libyan High Electoral Commission, Imad Al-Sayeh, has announced opening the door for the presidential and parliamentary elections candidacy on Monday, in preparation for holding the elections on 24 December as scheduled.

Al-Sayeh said, in a press conference on Sunday, that the electoral candidacy registration will continue until 22 November at the commission’s offices in Tripoli, Benghazi, and Sabha, while it will last until 7 December for the parliamentary elections.

He added that the commission had received from the House of Representatives the required amendments, which will enable it to conduct the polls smoothly.

He stated: “The upcoming elections are not for the sake of the transfer of power only, but to decide the fate of this country. Let’s forget our grudges and assume our responsibilities.”
