Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly asserted that Egypt will remain a safe country, saying that the attempts of terrorist groups to spread strife and isolate the people did not succeed.
Madbouly’s remarks came during the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Egyptian Family House conference, in the presence of Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb and Pope of Alexandria Tawadros II.
The PM pointed out that the Egyptian family is one of the most prominent axes to fight against terrorism, and consolidate the concept of citizenship.
He stressed that the Egyptian Family House aims to encourage the culture of acceptance of others between the Egyptians, pointing out that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi emphasised that the unity of the Egyptian people is the best guarantee to preserve the stability of the country.
Moreover, Al-Azhar Grand Imam stressed that the freedom of religion is one of the most precious human rights. Al Tayeb added that everyone knows it is impossible for all humans to agree on just one religion.
He noted that the idea of launching the Egyptian Family House came after realizing that some parties wanted to provoke sectarian strife in Egypt, which alarmed Al-Azhar and the Coptic church, so they decided to establish this platform to spread peaceful concepts.
Moreover, Pope Tawadros II stressed the importance of unity between all citizens, saying that religions should be a reason for unity and cooperation, rather than fighting and dispute.
He also noted that Egypt has one of the richest civilizations in the whole world; therefore, the Egyptians have always been living amidst mixed cultures and religions all along their history. He said that the Egyptian Family House has been working on spreading community peace, achieving justice, and reaffirming the concept of citizenship.
Pope Tawadros II called on adopting an approach with five basic concepts in the coming 10 years, which includes the love of God, the love of nature, the love of the other human being, the love of Egypt, and the love of eternity.
The Egyptian Family House is an initiative that represents a model of religious coexistence. It aims to preserve the Muslim-Christian unity within the Egyptian society, through reaffirming the noble values and common characteristics between various religions and cultures.
