Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry participated on Wednesday in the ministerial-level meeting of the Ad-Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) held in Oslo, Norway.

The AHLC was established to promote cooperation between the parties and the donor community in support of the two-state solution, development of the Palestinian economy, and institution-building for a Palestinian state.

Shoukry expressed Egypt’s appreciation and continued support to the AHLC, which is an important international mechanism for coordinating efforts and contacts between the parties concerned with a view to supporting Palestine.

He called for an integrated vision to meet humanitarian needs and overcome the economic crisis in the Palestinian territories, especially in light of the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the requirements for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and the necessary support from the Palestinian National Authority(PNA) to overcome those challenges.

Shoukry touched on Egypt’s efforts to provide humanitarian support to the brothers in Palestine as well as to the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

Shoukry urged that the international community should play its role in providing an environment for resuming the negotiating process between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, leading to a comprehensive settlement based on the decisions of international legitimacy and relevant Security Council resolutions.
