Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry arrived in Barcelona on Sunday to participate in the Sixth Regional Forum for the States of the Union for the Mediterranean, as well as the third ministerial meeting of the European Union with the southern neighbouring countries.
Ahmed Hafez ,Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that the minister Shoukry will emphasize the importance of “Union for the Mediterranean”, as an institutional framework for regional cooperation across the Mediterranean in several areas, most notably environment, climate change, economic and social development, digital transformation and exchange of technical expertise.
He also underlines Egypt’s commitment to work with its partners within the framework of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation towards greater integration in accordance with the vision adopted by the countries of the Union since its inception in 2008.
Minister Shoukry will review during the second ministerial meeting of European Union and southern neighbourhood priorities designed to cooperate with the European side in many fields based on the principle of joint ownership.
He also stresses the importance of increasing European investments in Egypt and the southern neighbour countries, and enhancing the access of these countries ‘ exports to European markets in order to support their efforts in achieving the development goals
