Daily News Egypt’s science editor Mohammed El-Said has shared the first prize in the World Food Day 2021 – Media Competition organised by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in coordination with the United Nations Information Center.
The award aimed at encouraging journalistic writings about food security, and fruits and vegetables topics.
El-Said’s article addressed a new study by an Egyptian researcher who created an innovative biocide to eliminate Orobanche in fava beans. The competition marked the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables.
Mohammed El-Said has over nine years of experience as a journalist. His work appeared in Scientific American Arabic Edition, SciDev.net, and other international media outlets.
El-Said graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Geography, and an MSc in Human Geography from Mansoura University. He is also a PhD candidate in Human Geography at Cairo University.
