Egypt’s exports of medical and pharmaceutical industries increased by 27.5% to $602m from January to November (11M) 2021 compared to $472m during the same period in 2020.
The monthly report issued by the Export Council for Medical and Pharmaceutical Industries, of which the Middle East News Agency obtained a copy, indicated that the sector’s exports increased during November by 3.2% to $65m from about $63m in November 2020.
The report added that cosmetics exports increased by 32.8% to $267m in 11M 2021 compared to $201m during 11M 2020, and by 3% to $34m in November 2021 compared to $33m in November 2020.
Egypt’s exports of medicines also increased by 31.2% to $248m in 11M 2021, compared to $189m during the same period last year, while it declined by 4.3% to $22m in this November alone compared to $23m last November.
Exports of medical supplies grew by 7.4% to $87m in 11M 2021, compared to $81m during the same period in 2020, and increased by 28.6% to $9m in November 2021 compared to $7m in November 2020.
Moreover, the report showed an increase in Egypt’s exports of medical and pharmaceutical industries by 5.3% to $138m during the third quarter (3Q) of this year, compared to $131m in 3Q 2020.
