Abdel Hadi Al-Qasabi, the Head of the Social Solidarity Committee in the House of Representatives, said that the government should open the doors for NGOs, join hands with them, encourage them, and direct its efforts to the poorest and most needy areas in the coming period.
This came after President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s declared at the conclusion of the 2022 World Youth Forum as the ‘Year of Civil Society.’
Al-Qasabi affirmed the president’s keenness to participate with civil society institutions and the continuation of cooperation and partnership with these organisations, as they have played a major role in various fields during the last period.
He stressed that he is betting on NGOs to achieve many successes in the next stage and to provide services to citizens to alleviate some of the burdens on the state.
Furthermore, he called on the government to facilitate the work of civil society organisations, work to support them, and announce the major areas that require their attention to allow for communal development.
Al-Qasabi appealed to NGOs to restructure their performance, join hands with each other, and to coordinate among themselves to accomplish huge works that benefit citizens and to and create a unified database that organises charitable work so that no citizen receives more than one subsidy at a time.
He concluded his statement by calling on NGOs and civil society institutions to adopt the issue of awareness in the coming period, given that it is a pivotal to the country’s future.
