Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy witnessed on Sunday the signing of a protocol to host three international championships for diving, high diving, and synchronised swimming between 2023 and 2026.
President of the International Swimming Federation Hussein Muslim and President of the Egyptian Swimming Federation Yasser Idris also attended the meeting.
Sobhy said that Egypt has become an international destination for hosting major world sporting tournaments and events thanks to the many advantages enjoyed by the facilities and sports infrastructure in Egypt.
He expressed his happiness for Egypt to host the Diving Grand Prix championship, High Diving World Cup, and Artistic Swimming World Series, which come within the framework of the fruitful and effective cooperation between the International Swimming Federation and the Egyptian Swimming Federation.
Furthermore, Sobhy asserted his ministry’s support for any plans promoting tourism to Egypt by holding sports events and festivals.
He added that his ministry has organised sports projects that include tourism programmes with the aim of increasing the frequency of tourism as well as setting programmes for unofficial sporting events that contribute to revitalising tourism.
Moreover, the ministry — in cooperation with the Egyptian Olympic Committee and sports federations — seeks to create real tourism opportunities by hosting and organising major continental or international sporting events.
