Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with Ramtan Lamamra, the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs in Cairo, on Monday in the presence of the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
Bassam Rady, the Spokesperson of the Presidency, said that President Al-Sisi stressed Egypt’s keenness to advance the frameworks of bilateral cooperation between the two countries at various levels by activating joint bilateral committees to launch relations to wider horizons in line with the depth of the bonds of brotherhood between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.
For his part, Lamamra conveyed to the president a written message from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which expressed Algeria’s pride in its close and distinguished relations with Egypt at the official and popular levels, and his interest in strengthening the areas of bilateral cooperation with Egypt in all fields.
President Tebboune also expressed his aspiration for further coordination and consultation with the Al-Sisi during the coming period to face the multiple challenges facing the region and the Arab nation and to support joint Arab action.
Furthermore, the two sides stressed the importance of holding the next session of the Joint Higher Committee at the prime ministerial level during the current year.
They also reiterated the importance of convening the next session of the Political Consultation Mechanism at the level of the foreign ministers in order to serve efforts to support relations and deepen the bilateral partnership between the two countries and strengthen the frameworks of cooperation and coordination on all issues of mutual interest to achieve stability, security, cooperation, and solidarity.
Additionally, the two sides discussed the latest developments in the situation in Libya, where they agreed on the importance of working to achieve security and stability in Libya, maintain its unity and sovereignty, unify its national institutions — especially the military and security forces — to enhance international efforts to end the presence of foreign forces and mercenaries in the country.
Regarding the developments in Tunisia, the two sides stressed their continued support for President Kais Said and his efforts to achieve stability in the country.
