Egyptian Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union Badr Abdel Aty discussed with a number of senior officials in the European Union various files of political, economic, and development cooperation.
Abdel Aty called for European investments in Egypt through the issuance of investment guarantees from the European Commission as well as the financial cooperation programmes between Egypt and the EU.
For their part, European officials hailed during the meetings the comprehensive modernisation process that Egypt is witnessing, asserting Egypt’s role as a pillar of regional stability and its vital role in combating terrorism and illegal immigration.
Abdel Aty also met with a member of the European Parliament Gorhi Hollivan, where they discussed enhancing cooperation between the Egyptian and European Parliaments.
The ambassador also met with Belgium’s Office Director of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Director-General of Bilateral Relations, the Director-General of Multilateral Relations, in addition to the Director-General of the Migration Department at the Belgian Ministry of the Interior, where they discussed ways to develop political, economic, and trade relations in addition to cooperation in the fields of Immigration and the fight against terrorism.
Meetings were also held with the heads of a number of major Belgian companies operating in Egypt or interested in working in Egypt in the sectors of infrastructure, logistics, port management, and clean and renewable energy.
