Under the evocative title ‘Alexandria Blues’, Amre Heiba presents his new exhibition around 40 mediums.
Closely related to the rarefied atmosphere of his previous work, the paintings created during the last three years showcase a series of almost empty spaces where the human presence is a distant memory or something that has not happened yet.
The artist seeks to highlight common objects, some that are abandoned and useless — like broken dollies — and some that are enigmatic — like red triangles — that decorate these non-descript rooms. Maybe the same infinitely repeated room playing the role of an interior landscape — becoming the metaphor of our increasingly precarious existence in this world.
