The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) will hold a meeting within a few days with the Ministers of Interior and Sports to discuss preparations for the first leg of the 2022 World Cup play-off against Senegal which is scheduled for 25 March in Cairo, according to a source in the Association.
The EFA has asked the security authorities to allow 40,000 spectators in the Cairo Stadium to support the Egyptian national team against Senegal.
The local ticket marketplace Tazkarti will also be present in the expected meeting to discuss ticket collections points and prices.
FIFA has set the date for the second leg to be on 28 March in Dakar.
Daily News Egypt learned that the EFA sent a request to FIFA to postpone the second leg for 24 hours, to be on 29 instead of 28 March. The Pharaohs’ coach Carlos Queiroz asked for the postponement to give the chance for his players enough rest after the first leg before they travel to Senegal. He wanted to avoid injuries among his players, especially those who play with their respective clubs in continental championships.
Meanwhile, the EFA confirmed that Egyptian centre-back Ahmed Hegazy, who was injured with the Pharaohs against Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this month, will miss the play-offs.
