In continuation of Egyptian innovation system’s leadership in various international forums, BOKDOC — a leading platform on surgical procedures in the Middle East — announced today it has won the World Summit Award as the best project contributing to improving and increasing capacities of societies to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs).
It will be honoured during the WSA Global Congress that will be held in Vienna next March. The award came after the Egyptian platform competed with over 182 countries from all over the world and qualified for the finals based on the decision of a jury consisting of experts from 23 countries.
Established at the end of 2018, BOKDOC is considered the first Arab platform to provide an integrated system for the concept of health care in the surgical procedures field that is based on innovative digital solutions that allow patients from different countries access to a range of competitive services, including selection and comparison between doctors and hospitals as well as free consultations and electronic financial systems of payment in instalments and cash.
The platform’s business volume growth rate approaches 22% per month.
“We are proud of this award, which we consider an important step towards health care development that we believe in our constructive role in achieving,” said Ahmed El-Awady, the Co-Founder and CEO of BOKDOC.
He noted that the award contributes to advancing the platform’s future visions towards securing a specialised and integrated medical system in the surgical procedures field and offering an innovative tool that provides added value to patients around the world, starting with medical examinations and the services of the Patient Care Department.
The department includes a selection of doctors that connect the patient to the best surgeon in proportion to their medical condition. He added that the platform is based on the principle of transparency, as the surgeon is chosen based on the reviews of former patients who underwent the operation, which results in a higher safety rate, and that was the main reason for winning the award.
“Our future vision of expansion is based on providing integrated health services in surgical operations to various countries. As a leading company in the field of entrepreneurship, Saudi Arabia will be our next destination, while we plan to expand in the United Arab Emirates by the end of 2022.”
It is worth noting that BOKDOC includes more than 1,500 surgeons and 70 hospitals and centres in more than 30 different medical specialties that have completed more than 3,000 operations in various disciplines, from minor dental surgeries to open-heart surgeries.
The platform also provides its services in more than nine different countries and has more than 230,000 patients seeking different surgeries every month.
