Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with Mauritanian Ambassador to Cairo Mohamed Abdallah on Monday to discuss cooperation in the fields of education and culture.
Abdel Ghaffar affirmed the depth of Egyptian-Mauritanian relations in different fields, pointing to the ministry’s keenness to develop and consolidate these relations.
The minister added that the scholarships offered to Mauritanian students to study in Egyptian universities aims to increase and support cultural, scientific, and social exchange between the two sides.
He also stressed the ministry’s keenness to provide all aspects of support to Mauritanian students in Egypt and to provide the best environment for them in light of the ‘Study in Egypt Initiative’, which aims to support cooperative relationships with different countries.
Furthermore, the two sides discussed mechanisms to support Mauritanian students in overcoming the difficulties they face while studying in Egypt and ways to increase scholarships for Mauritanians.
For his part, Abdallah praised Egyptian-Mauritanian relations, expressing his country’s aspiration for more cooperation with Egypt, pointing to the increase in applications submitted by Mauritanian students to complete their studies in Egyptian universities.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Higher Education for the support it provides for Mauritanian students, asserting his country’s aspiration to receive Egyptian students to study humanities and Islamic sciences in Mauritanian universities, which would contribute to increasing scientific and cultural exchange between the two sides.
