Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul-Gheit said that the upcoming Lebanese parliamentary elections in May are crucial to resolving the country’s current situation, adding that he remains hopeful for a better future for Lebanon.
During his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Beirut on Monday, Aboul-Gheit noted that the elections will contribute to stability, reunification, the formation of a new government, and the achievement of a breakthrough in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund.
He also discussed international developments and their effects on the Middle East, Lebanon, and Arab countries.
Furthermore, Aboul-Gheit said that two sides discussed the Kuwaiti-Gulf Initiative.
