A massive fire broke out inside a chemical and paints factory in the Abu Rawash Industrial Area of Kerdasa, Giza on Wednesday.
The Public Prosecution’s office in Giza assigned officials from the criminal lab to examine the effects of the massive fire, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident and whether this is a case of arson.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a fire broke out inside the factory, which contained highly flammable materials such as paints.
As soon as the blaze was reported, 10 fire engines were sent to control the fire and prevent its spread to neighbouring properties.
It is worth noting that the data of the annual report on fire accidents in Egypt in 2021 recorded a decline of 0.8% compared to 2020.
According to the report, 51.2% of fire accidents were caused by negligence, and 48.6% were accidental.
Cairo ranked first in the report in terms of number of fire-related accidents, representing 11.9% of all cases, followed by Giza with 7.6%.
