Jesualdo Ferreira, Portuguese coach of Zamalek, has held intensified sessions with the team during the past few days to raise their morale after being knocked out from the CAF Champions League, which they last won in 2002.
The Whites suffered back-to-back CAF Champions League group-stage exit after falling to a 1-0 defeat to Wydad Casablanca in Cairo. With just two points from four games, Zamalek currently sit third in Group D with two points, eight behind Angola’s Petro Atletico and seven adrift of second placed Wydad of Morocco.
Ferreira assured the players that he is confident in their abilities and that they are able to return to the right path and compete for local championships this season.
Petro Atlético will host Zamalek on Saturday. The Whites hope to achieve victory to regain confidence before the resumption of the Egyptian Premier League.
The team will conclude its training in Angola on Friday. The Portuguese coach is expected to select young players for the game’s line-up to ease the burden and pressure on older players who experienced many failures recently.
