Chief-of-Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Osama Askar met on Saturday with Lieutenant-General Muhozi Kainerugaba, Ugandan senior presidential adviser on special operations and commander of land forces of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF).
General Kainerugaba has arrived in Egypt along with his accompanying delegation on Friday.
The meeting dealt with many issues of common interest in the fields of military cooperation and the exchange of experiences between the armed forces of both countries to achieve the common interests of both sides, according to a statement released by Egypt’s Armed Forces official spokesperson.
Chief-of-Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces stressed Egypt’s pride in the historical relations and ties with Uganda and the keenness of the General Command of the Armed Forces to increase the bonds of cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries in various fields.
Lieutenant-General Kainerugaba praised the efforts made by Egypt and its armed forces to support security and stability efforts on the African continent, stressing his country’s keenness to support new horizons for military cooperation during the next stage.
“We discussed enhancing our strategic defence alliance and building on more than 25 years of defence cooperation. There will be greater and more solid actions in pursuit of our common security interests in the region,” Lieutenant-General Muhozi Kainerugaba tweeted.
The meeting was attended by some leaders of the armed forces.
