The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) honoured the ‘Maharah Tech’ platform of the Information Technology Institute (ITI) on Sunday.
The Maharah Tech platform was chosen as one of the best projects that have an impact on qualifying technological cadres and providing distinguished electronic content in Arabic in high-demand technical disciplines and linking them to self-employment skills.
Heba Saleh — the President of the Information Technology Institute (ITI) — received the honorary award at a ceremony organised by the ESCWA.
The ESCWA was established in 1973 to stimulate economic activity in member states, enhance cooperation among them, and promote development.
It is also one of five regional commissions established by the United Nations Economic and Social Council that is headquartered in Beirut, Lebanon.
The Maharah Tech platform is the digital training arm of the ITI, and it is an educational platform that provides high-quality training courses on information technology tracks and enriching Arabic content and making it available to a wide range of learners to provide them with new technologies and developments in the information technology track.
The platform aims to provide specialised training content in more than 10 technological disciplines in the Arabic language, and the number of users of the platform in 2021 reached about 320,000 users, while the number of educational videos on the platform reached more than 1,800 video clips.
Through the platform, the institute provides several technological tracks, namely software quality testing and assurance, freelancing, designing educational content, AI and deep learning, mobile application development, integrated circuit design, the internet of things, blockchain, open-source software, and cyber security.
