Egypt ranks first in the world in date production, accounting for about 18% of global production. It is also the first among Arab countries with 23% share. This is why it is considered the top destination and a hub for producers and exporters of dates regionally.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture and Giza governorate, Orman Garden in Giza hosted the second edition of International Date Festival on 28 March.
The Minister of Agriculture said that the state seeks to enhance the cultivation of dates in the country, adding that Egypt produces about 1.8 million tonnes.
Moreover, the Ministry has a vision to maximize the date industry and achieve an added value to the national product through industrialization and expanding the cultivation of new types.
