A sensitive and controversial role was played by Egyptian actor Abdelaziz Makhyoun. He played the character of the Brotherhood’s supreme guide, Mohamed Badie.
DNE asked Makhyoun if he was worried of the possible consequences of playing this role, he bravely said: “I am not afraid at all. I am not close or affiliated with any political or religious party. I am an actor and this is my job.
Regarding his preparations for the character, he said: “I watched dozens of videos of Badie, to learn how he moves and speaks. I spent months studying the character.
Makhyoun also played the role of the Brotherhood’s previous supreme guide Hassan Al-Hudaybi in season 2 of the “Al-Gama’a” series. DNE asked Makhyoun whether playing two different characters in similar series will confuse the audience. Makhyoun said: “The two characters are completely different, and the only thing in common between them is their position in the Brotherhood.
As for the audience’s reactions, he said: “The most important thing was presenting the facts and documenting this period, a concept that will remain in people’s minds for many years.”
