Egyptian actor Khaled Al-Sawy succeeded in embodying the character of MB leader Khairat Al-Shater brilliantly, but he refused to speak badly about this character for ethical considerations.

He said: “Today I am a free person, and he is imprisoned. For moral considerations, I will not speak about him badly or attack him. We were opponents and stood in front of each other, but each person made his destiny and chose his path, as the series explains, and I stood with my country’s army, and with all those who made sacrifices and put themselves at risk to protect me and the rest of the Egyptians.

My position has been known for a long time. I never supported the other party [MB] that was destroying the country and was willing to shed blood only for the sake of their political victory. The surprising thing is that they are Egyptians like us who lived among us.”

Regarding the reactions to the series, Al-Sawy said: “There is a group of people who always love and encourage me and when I appear in any work they support me. This group of lovers gave me a very good boost in the first week of Ramadan. This encouragement gave me a great deal of confidence. At the same time, I have some fear of high expectations because sometimes people are affected by propaganda to the extent that they may be prejudiced against the work.

When I accepted the role, I wanted to be patient. A work of this value requires patience and precision in implementation. Every scene should be presented accurately because we bore a great responsibility.”

Commenting on the Brotherhood’s rule and its dispute with other parties over power after the January revolution, Al-Sawy said: “Actors and artists paid an expensive price to reveal the truth to the Egyptian people and the world.”

Regarding the rumored competition between the actors in the series, he said: “We had a beautiful atmosphere in the series, and I cannot describe it as a competition. We are no competitors, but we work in one team and for one goal.

Al-Sawy stressed that the presence of many stars in one series would not have been invested well without a good director and professional producer. He said: “I thank Peter Mimi, who has proven his talent. All actors want to work with him now. When I worked with him, I discovered the extent of his simplicity and smoothness. I also thank Tamer Morsi, who has an awesome ability to arrange, plan, and make successful combinations.
