Dell Technologies announced on Saturday that it is developing its solutions to help retailers make more money by adding data to their points of sale.
From in-store shopping and pick-up services from pre-determined locations to online shopping with all its technologies and popular loss-avoidance policies, retailers have developed their reliance on edge technologies to keep pace with industry demands and create better customer experiences.
A recent study by 451 Research — a research and analytics firm affiliated with S&P and Global Market Intelligence and commissioned by Dell — finds that this growth will continue, with 77% of retailers expecting sophisticated sales to increase significantly in the next two years.
However, without a comprehensive approach, the application of these new technologies over a wide geography and multiple locations can generate complex and disconnected solutions and ultimately increase the cost of IT management for the retailer.
“We help retailers easily integrate these technologies so they can analyse data as it is generated, make decisions faster, and deliver positive in-store experiences to shoppers and employees,” said Jill Schneurson — Senior Vice President of Edge Computing Solutions at Dell Technologies.
Dell’s new capabilities combine cutting-edge technologies so that retailers can easily manage and scale infrastructure from data centres to end devices and launch digital AI applications in-store to deliver better experiences.
Dell Validated Design for Retail Edge simplifies, manages, and supports efficient retail peripheral infrastructure and applications into a single infrastructure package.
With VMware Edge Compute Stack integration, the solution provides retailers with a single management of cutting-edge IT across all retail locations to track system status, build and manage applications, and securely expand across additional sites.
Working with Deep North and its smart video analytics platform, the service provides AI-enabled solutions that help retailers use data to improve in-store shopping experiences such as improving product condition, preventing product loss, tracking inventory, and helping shoppers avoid long lines.
“We are excited that Deep North’s real-time video analytics platform supports Dell Validated Design for Retail Edge,” said Rohan Sanel — CEO and Co-Founder of Deep North.
“We look forward to helping retailers leverage AI to set a clear path to identify opportunities that will create a better customer experience, improve purchases, and increase sales.”
