Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, held a meeting with several members of the Egyptian Medical Society in the UK, at the headquarters of the Egyptian Cultural Centre in London.
The meeting came on the sidelines of the minister’s tour in Europe which included Portugal, Czech Republic, and the UK, according to Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, on Saturday.
The tour included participation in many events and organizing several meetings, with the aim of upgrading the health system in Egypt and improving the level of medical services provided to citizens.
Abdel Ghaffar added that the minister discussed with members of the Egyptian Medical Society how to benefit from their expertise in updating specialized training programmes for doctors in Egypt, and the possibility of hosting Egyptian doctors for training in subspecialties in UK hospitals.
He added that the meeting addressed a mechanism for arranging visits to Egypt from doctors residing in the United Kingdom with their work teams, nurses and technicians, in addition to the participation of the association’s experts in the digital remote diagnosis of complex and critical cases.
Abdel Ghaffar also explained that the minister agreed with members of the Egyptian Medical Society to develop a plan to provide continuous advice on different treatment protocols, using the latest updates that are being practiced in the UK and to transfer them to doctors in Egypt, especially in cases of cancerous diseases using targeted therapy and treatment of immune system.
