Cairo giants Al Ahly aim to support new head coach Ricardo Soares, to accomplish something with the football team, following the great achievements by previous coach Pitso Mosimane.
Al Ahly Football Company, headed by Yassin Mansour, and the club’s planning committee, headed by Mohsen Saleh, will hold an important meeting with Soares, in the presence of Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the President of the club.
During the upcoming meeting, Al Ahly will inform Soares of the previous transfer plan set by Mosimane, which he presented several months before his departure, and it included signing left and right wings, a striker, a midfielder, and a defending midfielder.
Soares will reveal his plans in terms of the incomings and outgoings. There are a few names that may be of interest to the Portuguese coach: Mohamed Reda Bobo, midfielder and playmaker in Future FC; Ahmed Atef, Future’s striker; Mostafa Shalaby from Enppi; and Amr El-Sisi from Tala’ea El Gaish. Amir Tawfik, Al Ahly’s director of transfers, had agreed personal terms with these players and will start official negotiations with their respective clubs when he receives the green light.
In the same context, Soares instructed his assistant staff to search for distinguished players in the league, who could fit the team next season.
Meanwhile, Moroccan Badr Banoun, Al Ahly’s defender, is close to moving to Qatari FC. The Qatari club submitted an offer to sign Badr Bannon, last June, of $2.25m, while Al Ahly wanted to increase the offer to $2.5 or $2.75m.
