Cairo International Stadium will host Egyptian Premier League sides Future and Ghazl El-Mahalla on Thursday in the final of the League Cup’s first edition. The League Cup was founded by the newly formed Professional Clubs’ Association, making it the country’s third domestic trophy after the Egyptian Premier League and Egypt Cup.

The clubs in this competition were divided into three groups; each includes six clubs. They all played five rounds.

The Professional Clubs’ Association announced that a foreign referee will officiate the game at the request of the two finalists.

The final will see a strong game as Future have several talented players, but they lack popularity, unlike Ghazl El-Mahalla which have a large fan base.

In another context, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) is expected to announce the new head coach of the national football team, after it had assigned the duo board members Hazem Imam and Mohamed Barakat, to collect CVs of foreign coaches to lead the Pharaohs in the coming period.

A source in the EFA revealed that the Association settled its dispute with Carlos Queiroz, the former coach of the Pharaohs, and that Queiroz expressed his respect to Egypt and its national team; emphasizing that what happened was just a misunderstanding.

It was officially decided to hold the Egypt vs. Malawi match, in the third round of qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, with the attendance of 12,000 fans, at Alexandria Stadium next September.

The full capacity of the Alexandria Stadium is 12,000 fans.
