Thirty-one political parties have authorized the Libyan Presidential Council (LPC) to “take control and issue sovereign decrees to end the transitional stage and set dates for parliamentary and presidential elections before the end of the year, Libyan media reported.
Head of the LPC, Muhammad al-Manfi, met with representatives of those parties on Tuesday morning, without revealing the names of the participants in the meeting.
The 31 parties demanded the presidential council to fulfil its pledge to hold presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible, considering that ignoring this responsibility is “a betrayal and an unforgivable historical crime.”
