Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population announced on Wednesday the provision of reproductive health and family planning services free of charge to 615,545 women, via through mobile clinics and reproductive health convoys nationwide during the first half of 2022.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the ministry provided family planning services and means free of charge, through 771 reproductive health convoys, and 13,745 visits to mobile clinics, in addition to 3 promotional campaigns, which were implemented in remote areas.
He pointed out that 185,942 new beneficiaries benefited from family planning services, which are provided free of charge.
Abdel Ghaffar said that the ministry provides technical support to the clinics affiliated with NGOs by training the medical teams working in them to provide family planning services with high quality. They are also provided with family planning methods free of charge and periodically, according to their needs.
The total outcome of the means reached 98,729 beneficiaries through 484 subsidized clinics, 419 clinics affiliated with NGOs, and 65 clinics affiliated with the “2 Enough” programme.
For his part, Hossam Abbas, Head of Population and Family Planning Sector, said that 151,360 seminars were held in women’s clubs, to raise awareness of reproductive health issues, and 101,884 women were trained in some crafts, such as handicrafts, leather products, sewing and knitting, and the establishment of 2,381 product exhibitions.
