Khaled Abdel Ghaffar appointed as Health Minister

Egypt’s Parliament announced on Saturday appointing Khaled Abdel Ghaffar as the new Minister of Health and Population, after almost 10 months of running the ministry as acting minister, succeeding Hala Zayed. 

 

Abdel Ghaffar headed the Department of Oral Medicine, Periodontics, Diagnostics, and Radiology at the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University. He also served as Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University, and the Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research before being chosen as Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

 

The new Minister of Health and Population, worked as a visiting professor at the College of Dentistry, University of Georgia, US, a visiting professor at the College of Dentistry, University of Texas, Houston, US, Secretary of the Dental Sector Committee at the Supreme Council of Universities, and a member of the Permanent Committee for Promotions at the Supreme Council of Universities.

 

He also won the first place for the best research during the international conference of the International Foundation for Dental Research “IADR”, the State Incentive Award in Medical Sciences, the award for the best distinguished research in Ain Shams University. 

 

Abdel Ghaffar has published 20 research papers in international journals and co-authored about 50 research papers in the field of dentistry and oral medicine specialization.
