Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar received on Tuesday, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation in Egypt, Jerome Fontana, to discuss bilateral cooperation.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the meeting discussed aspects of cooperation between the two sides in various health fields. He pointed out that the minister praised the cooperation with the Red Cross, praising its role in promoting humanitarian principles globally.
Abdel Ghaffar added that the two sides discussed cooperation in enhancing the capabilities of health facilities workers by providing training programs for medical teams in emergency specialties, and refining their skills in dealing with any health crises or challenges.
He noted that the two sides addressed cooperation in supporting health facilities, especially in the border areas, stressing the importance of exchanging experiences between the Ministry of Health and the Red Cross in practices to overcome health risks and pandemics.
For his part, Fontana, said: “We are ready to support the efforts of the Ministry of Health in rehabilitating health care sector centers and building medical capacities in the neediest areas in the country.”
The meeting was attended by Mohamed Hassani, the Assistant Minister of Health for Public Health Initiatives Affairs; Suzan El-Zanati, the Director General of the General Department of External Health Relations at the Ministry of Health; and Sally Morshed, the Head of the Health Department at the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation in Cairo.
