In preparation for the winter tourism season, Ghada Shalaby — Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs — met with Governor of Luxor Mostafa Alham to discuss a number of files that would contribute to pushing the incoming tourist movement to Luxor.
The meeting touched upon the ministry’s directive to dispatch more committees to inspect hotel and tourist establishments in the governorate to ensure their compliance with health and safety requirements and the evaluate the quality of the services provided in them, in addition to continuing the work of re-evaluating hotel establishments in the governorate in accordance with the new classification standards (HC).
Shalaby also met with a group of investors, owners and managers of fixed and floating hotel establishments in the governorate to discuss preparations for the winter tourism season, stressing the need for all hotel and tourist establishments to adhere to all procedures and requirements for health and food safety standards.
Furthermore, she stressed the need to continue training programmes for workers in the tourism sector, pointing out that the training courses organised by the ministry in cooperation with the Egyptian Tourism Federation and the relevant chambers for workers in hotel and tourism establishments in various disciplines contribute to enhancing their skills and production capabilities.
The meeting also touched on some of the requirements of the tourism sector to advance the cultural tourism product, especially in light of the integrated product that combines cultural, beach, and recreational tourism by linking the cities of the Nile Valley with the cities of the Red Sea and opening new tourist markets.
