Priti Gupte — spouse of the Indian Ambassador in Cairo — hosted a yoga event at the Grand Nile Tower Hotel in Garden City on 28 August.
The event was attended by the spouses of other ambassadors and diplomats, some members of the Indian diaspora, and yoga lovers.
The event included short meditative sessions, breathing exercises, and yoga asanas/postures. Gupte mentioned that she herself is a regular practitioner of yoga and explained to the participants the benefits and importance of the excercise.
The event was organised as a part of a celebration of the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence and the ongoing Indian cultural month at the Grand Nile Tower.
Yoga is an ancient Indian tradition that seeks to achieve harmony of the body and mind by combing physical and mental pursuits.
Today, yoga is practiced in various forms around the world and continues to grow in popularity.
Yoga is also very popular in Egypt, which now has a number of yoga enthusiasts and practitioners.
Moreover, the Indian Embassy’s Maulana Azan Centre for Culture organises regular yoga classes at its premises led by an Indian yoga Instructor.
