Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, has headed for the United States to participate in the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which is being held in New York, under the slogan “Solutions through Solidarity, Sustainability and Science”.
The UN meetings come amid unprecedented global repercussions due to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and the economic effects due to the Corona pandemic. The meetings will discuss a number of important files that occupy the international community, on top of which are food insecurity, the energy price crisis, and global supply chain disruptions.
The Minister of International Cooperation is scheduled to participate in many events held within the activities of the United Nations General Assembly, including the meeting of the United Nations Global Compact, which includes high-level speakers, including António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations. Al Mashat will also participate in a number of side events organized by the World Economic Forum on climate action and the participation of non-profit organizations in climate finance efforts, as well as an event organized by the Global Alliance for Energy for Humanity and Planet.
Al-Mashat will also hold a number of bilateral meetings with development partners, representatives of international institutions, the United Nations and the private sector, with the aim of promoting discussions on achieving sustainable development goals and climate action.
