Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa met with David Rueta — CEO of the ITB Berlin Tourism Exchange — and Adviser of the ITB Berlin Tourism Exchange Bruno Walter to discuss ways to enhance cooperation with Messe Berlin — the organiser of the ITB Berlin Tourism Exchange.
The meeting was attended by various officials from both sides along with representatives from Russia and Italy.
During the meeting, many ideas and proposals were discussed to enhance cooperation with Messe Berlin to organise tourism conferences and exhibitions in Egypt, as this company organises other international exhibitions in Singapore, China, and India and organises events for the tourism sector such as TRVLX, which is organised every year in a different country.
Furthermore, the two sides discussed new horizons for cooperation to enhance the competitiveness of the Egyptian tourism sector, especially in incentives and conference tourism.
The ITB Berlin Tourism Exchange is the most important and largest global tourist gathering with more than 10,000 exhibitors representing more than 180 countries and more than 170,000 visitors, including 110,000 professional visitors, in addition to 1,000 major investors in the tourism sector, along with a media presence of more than 5,000 journalists from 70 countries and 400 bloggers from 30 countries.
Egypt has participated in the ITB Berlin Tourist Exchange annually since 1971, where more than 100 companies and hotels have always participated alongside the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers and Tourist Governorates, and Egypt was named the guest of honour of the event in its 2012 edition.
