A report by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) showed an increase in the rate of daily use of mobile Internet services by 46% in the summer of 2022, compared to the summer of 2021, supported by an increase in the number of mobile internet users by about 9.4 million users.
Furthermore, according to the report, the rates of fixed Internet use increased by 32%, supported by an increase in the number of fixed internet users by about 904,000 users.
The NTRA also revealed in its report the pattern of Egyptians using the internet during the summer of this year.

Short entertainment videos like Tik Tok and Lyke
The rate of watching and making short entertainment videos increased by 69% during the summer of 2022 compared to the summer of last year.
Moreover, the number of users reached 18.4m short video creators, and the total number of video hours was 4.4 million hours per day.
The rate of e-mail usage decreased by 3.5%, with the number of users reaching 16.1 million and the number of emails sent amounting to 12.2 million emails per day.

The report showed an increase in the use of map search services such as Google Maps, Here we go, and Waze by 48%, with the number of users reaching 16.5 million and the number of searches reaching 107.7 million per day.
Content streaming
The rate of viewing content such as movies and series through applications and online platforms like Netflix, Shahid, and WatchIt also increased by 73%, with the number of viewers reaching 35.8 million and the number of watch hours 20.2 million per day.
Furthermore, the volume of use increased by an estimated 73%.
Online shopping
Online shopping services rose by 104%, with the number of shoppers increasing to 11.2 million and the number of shopping related searched reaching 230.4 million per day.
Internet browsing and downloads
According to the report, browsing various websites witnessed an increase in usage by 21%, adding that the number of users reached 42.9 million, and the number of visits reached 3.8 billion per day.
Social Media
The rate of using social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter increased by 5%, with the number of users reaching 34.3 million and the number of visits 2.1 billion per day.
Search engines
The rate of using online search engines such as Google increased by 10%, recording 37.5 million users and 2.7 billion searches per day.
Videogames
The rate of playing online video games increased by 69%, with the number of players rising to 17.4 million and playtime coming in at 424,000 hours per day.
Online chatting
Online chatting through applications like Telegram and WhatsApp increased by 44%, with the number of users rising to 22.1 million and the number of messages reaching 258.6 billion per day.
Live video broadcast
The volume of use of live broadcasting services also increased by 65%, with the number of video creators reaching 18,400 broadcasting 3,400 hours per day.
Remote meetings
Finally, online meetings through applications like Zoom and Skype increased by 25%, with the number of users reaching 1.5 million and the number of meeting hours increasing to 103.8 million per day.
