Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry received on Wednesday the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan Al-Jaber, who is also his country’s special envoy for climate change.
According to a statement by the foreign ministry, Al-Jaber started the meeting by praising Egypt’s organisation of this huge conference and its management of its work in a way that enhances the work of the international climate on all levels.
He also highlighted his country’s keenness on the success of the UN Conference of Parties on Climate Change (COP27) being held in Sharm El-Sheikh until 18 November and its successful outcome.
Furthermore, Al-Jaber noted that the UAE is keen to strengthen the frameworks of coordination and consultation with the Egyptian presidency of the COP27 to ensure the factors of success and sustainability in preparation for the UAE’s hosting of the COP28 next year in Dubai.
For his part, Shoukry thanked the UAE official for his interest in communicating with the conference presidency and working to ensure that the Sharm El-Sheikh conference achieves its goals.
He also reviewed the various topics on the agenda, expressing his hope that the coming days will see more rapprochement between countries on these topics.
Finally, he stressed Egypt’s constant keenness and readiness to coordinate with the UAE on the COP28 to ensure its success.
