Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry headed on Wednesday to the Saudi capital Riyadh to participate in the meeting of the Follow-up and Political Consultation Committee between Egypt and Saudi Arabia at the level of foreign ministers, scheduled to be held on Thursday.

Ahmed Abu Zeid, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the Egyptian-Saudi political consultation committee reflects the keenness of the Egyptian and Saudi sides to coordinate and consult continuously on various issues on the regional and international arenas, in particular those affecting the interests of the two brotherly countries and the Arab countries.

This is based on the close historical and fraternal relations between the two countries, and in connection with their continuous efforts to strengthen Arab solidarity in the face of current challenges.

This is the fifth round of meetings between the foreign ministries of the two countries, which was established under the memorandum of Understanding signed between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in Cairo in 2007.
