President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi witnessed on Monday the celebration of the 71st Police Day at the Police Academy Conference Complex in New Cairo.
Al-Sisi watched a documentary film about the successes of the policemen in working to maintain security and achieve stability in society.
Al-Sisi said that a major attempt was made over the past years, the last of which was 10 years ago, to demolish the Egyptian police.
The Minister of Interior, Mahmoud Tawfiq, received President Al-Sisi upon his arrival, where the guard of honor was reviewed, the Republican anthem and the martyr’s peace were played, while President Al-Sisi laid a wreath at the memorial to the police martyrs.
Tawfiq said that the policemen bear the responsibility to protect the security of the homeland.
He pointed out that the ministry is aware of the magnitude of the challenges posed by a highly turbulent regional and international environment, rife with conflicts and tensions that have cast negative shadows on the peoples of the world and affected their daily conditions.
He pointed to integrating the Ministry’s efforts with all state agencies to impose security and stability through security preemption and the quality of police performance, with popular awareness of the size of these efforts.
Men from the armed forces, along with their colleagues from the police forces, participated in the celebration of Police Day.
During the ceremony, President Al-Sisi awards the names of a group of police martyrs the Medal of the Republic, as an expression of appreciation for their precious sacrifices for the sake of the country and in honour of their families, in addition to awarding medals of distinction to a number of police officers, for their distinguished performance and dedication to work.
The ceremony is attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the St. Mark, Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafi Jabali, President of the Senate Abdel Wahhab Abdel Razek, and a number of MPs and senators.
