Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad met with members of the Senate Energy, Environment and Manpower Committee headed by Abdel Khalek Ayad and Noha Zaki, to review the results of the COP27.
This came in the presence of Mohamed Nasr, Director of the Department of Climate Change, Environment and Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Sherif Abdel-Rahim, Head of the Central Department for Climate Change at the Ministry of Environment.
During the meeting, the Minister of Environment reviewed the most important initiatives that were announced during the climate conference, which will be worked on until the climate conference COP28 in the UAE, including the “fast” initiative for food security, which is responsible for the Ministry of Agriculture in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, as well as the energy initiative, which is responsible for the Ministry of Electricity and Energy.
She also pointed to the nature-based solutions initiative for which the Ministry of Environment is responsible, to include procedures for adaptation, especially in the Egyptian coastal areas, and to support the work of the early warning system to confront the impact of climate change, especially since Egypt is one of the countries most affected by these effects, as are many African countries.
