Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir met with export council’s heads of ready-made garments, spinning and weaving, furniture, medical industries, printing and packaging, and furniture sectors to discuss the councils’ work plans to develop Egyptian exports.
The meeting also discussed the most prominent challenges facing exporters and ways to overcome them.
The minister said that this meeting comes within the series of meetings that the ministry started in January to identify the growth opportunities available to exporters during the current year compared to 2022.
The series also aims to reach an agreement on the most important needs of the export sector to maintain and increase the achieved growth rates, especially in light of the great interest that the state attaches to the matter.
Samir noted that the ministry and all its affiliated bodies are fully prepared to provide technical support to exporters and manufacturers and provide them with the necessary facilities to perform business.
Moreover, the ministry will improve services provided by the ministry to enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian products and exports.
The minister highlighted the ministry’s keenness to coordinate and communicate with exporters community in a way that contributes to implementing the country’s development plans aimed at increasing Egyptian exports and opening new markets.
The plans place great importance on Africa, as one of the most important promising markets for the Egyptian product.
He disclosed that export councils could benefit from Arab Africa Trade Bridges program, which the ministry is currently implementing to increase its presence in markets of the African continent, by organizing exhibitions or establishing logistical centers in these markets.
“The ministry spares no effort in solving any problem facing an industrial investor or exporter, in addition to the ministry’s continuous coordination with the rest of the ministries and concerned authorities in the country to work to overcome obstacles that may be associated with these authorities,” Samir said.
For their part, heads of the exporting councils presented performance indicators of their export sectors during the past year, as well as their vision to give a strong impetus to Egyptian exports during the next stage.
They aim to do so by focusing on deepening local manufacturing and increasing the added value of the Egyptian product.
Moreover, they also plan to activate export risk guarantee system, and facilitating business procedures, as well as facilitate procedures for participation in foreign exhibitions.
