Cairo, Nouakchott sign MoU in military cooperation

Egypt’s Commander-in-Chief and Minister of Defence Mohamed Zaki met on Monday with Hanen Ould Sidi, Minister of National Defence in Mauritania, and his accompanying delegation, in Cairo.

The meeting dealt with a number of issues of common concern and ways of military cooperation between the two armed forces.

Zaki said he is proud of the strategic partnership relations between the Egyptian and Mauritanian armed forces in various fields, especially defense and security.

The Mauritanian Minister also expressed his aspiration for more coordination and joint cooperation, praising Egypt’s efforts to support all African issues to establish security and stability and to realize the aspirations of the peoples of the continent.

The defence ministers of the two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of military cooperation, which outlines the most important activities the two armed forces are seeking to promote in the coming period.

The meeting was attended by Chief-of-Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Osama Askar and a number of commanders of the Egyptian and Mauritanian armed forces.
