Al-Sisi directs continuing efforts in promoting digital transformation

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met on Saturday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat. The president listened during the meeting to a presentation regarding the efforts of empowering the Egyptian citizens.

The minister reviewed the efforts to qualify and train Egyptian human resources in the field of information technology, through the “Egypt Digital City” strategy, which aims to maximize digital exports and increase the number of workers in the sector, including freelancers in the outsourcing industry, by establishing an accredited training educational path in communication sciences and information technology.

The President was also briefed on the developments of a number of initiatives and projects, including “Egypt’s digital cubs”, digital innovation centers, the development of Egyptian Post offices, real estate registration offices, technology zones, and schools of applied technology nationwide.

Talaat also pointed out that Egypt obtained the highest category in the Digital Government Maturity Index for the year 2022 issued by the World Bank, in addition to the progress of the Egyptian Postal Authority’s ranking in the Postal Development Index issued by the Universal Postal Union during the year 2022, to become the second in the Arab world and Africa, and the 57th. At the global level, up from the ninety-first position, where the President directed in this regard to make every effort to continue and increase that progress in all areas related to the communications and information technology sector.

The President also stressed during the meeting the priority of providing all the necessary support to build and develop the capabilities of Egyptian youth, support emerging companies and encourage their expansion in the communications and information technology sector, directing the continuation of the state’s efforts to promote digital transformation, and the automation of administrative and government procedures to facilitate citizens and shorten time and effort. And the cost, while keeping up with the latest technological applications in the field of artificial intelligence, which is steadily increasing in importance and added value at the global level.
