Around 30 students from the Faculty of Media and Language at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Alexandria have visited the Spanish Embassy in Cairo.
Ambassador of Spain in Cairo Álvaro Iranzo received the students before their trip to Barcelona as part of their academic programme.
Iranzo met with Samy Tayie, Advisor to the President of the AASTMT, and the young students on the eve of their quarterly study stay in Barcelona. One of the objectives of this visit is to prepare the students for their stay.
The AASTMT was founded in 1972 as a higher educational institution supported by the Arab League. Initially, its studies focused on Maritime Transport and Marine Sciences, and have since expanded to several disciplines. Spanish is one of the foreign languages taught at the Academy through an agreement with the Cervantes Institute.
The programme is offered by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), which has just celebrated its 10th anniversary.
