The Embassy of Sweden in Cairo and Entreprenelle hosted panel discussions followed by a reception at the Swedish Ambassador’s residence to celebrate the International and Egyptian Women’s Day.
The event was attended by some of Egypt’s top female gender activists and entrepreneurs. The ceremony highlighted the outcomes of the annual summit “SHE CAN” that took place in the Greek campus on 4 March. SHE CAN Summit is the largest Women Entrepreneurship event in the MENA and the Swedish Embassy in Cairo is the main partner for this year’s event.
The reception began with opening speeches from the Swedish Ambassador, Mr. Håkan Emsgård and Ms. Rania Ayman, founder of Entreprenelle and focused on the successful stories of women in Egypt and Sweden through a panel discussion aimed to highlight positive, thriving, and influential women in different posts and positions.
“Gender Equality is a global challenge which requires cooperation between countries. We believe that women participation is the key for economic development. It is a top priority for the Swedish government, just as it is for the Egyptian government,” said the Swedish Ambassador
And he added “March is truly a month for Egyptian women. While the world celebrates International Women’s Day on March 8, Egyptian Women’s Day falls on March 16. We are happy to partner again with Entreprenelle to celebrate women and listen to their success stories and the challenges they face on their journey.”
“It takes a village to achieve women empowerment, and no one can do it alone. That’s why we believe in partnership,” said the CEO of Entreprenelle, Rania Ayman.
